Our Guiding Force: Mission and Vision

Our Mission

To promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and safety among young skiers and snowboarders by creating engaging, age-appropriate video education and fostering community outreach.

Our Vision

A future where every child on the mountain understands the Skier & Snowboarder Responsibility Code, resulting in fewer collisions, injuries, and more shared enjoyment of snow sports.

Our Story

Slide With Respect was officially founded in 2016, growing from the vital work of The PSA Project, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to public safety, health, and education. Our name comes from the market research conducted at Fort Lewis College, which identified a critical need for youth-focused, engaging safety content.

What started as an initiative focused on helping Telluride schools integrate safety lessons into their curriculum has now evolved into a movement reaching far beyond Colorado. We channel our passion for the slopes into powerful educational tools that save lives and prevent devastating injuries.

Our Approach

We believe that learning should be engaging. Our approach involves:

Age-Appropriate Content

Producing short, high-impact videos tailored specifically for elementary and middle school students.

Real-World Stories

Using narratives, such as the Annie Varielle-Savath incident, to ensure the message about the Responsibility Code resonates deeply.

Collaboration

Working directly with ski instructors, ski clubs, and educators to ensure our content is practical and effective both in the classroom and on the mountain.

Our Values

  • Respect: For the mountain, for the rules, and for each other.
  • Responsibility: Owning our actions and choices on the slopes.
  • Education: Delivering clear, accessible, and high-quality safety knowledge.
  • Community: Working together to make the mountain safer for everyone.
  • Safety: Our core and non-negotiable priority.
